Traditional Rice Cooking
& Tastes of Toba

かまど焚きごはんと鳥羽の食

Shirataki Forest was once a place where ascetic practitioners undertook spiritual training.
At the old folk house “Shirataki Donguri Hut,” located beside the forest in the small community of Funatsu, you will stoke a fire with firewood on a traditional kamado hearth and cook rice the old-fashioned way.
After the rice is cooked, enjoy it alongside seasonal ingredients from Toba while learning about dietary health principles based on Eastern medicine with a retreat coordinator.
This experience helps you refresh your mind and body and restore your energy for the days ahead.
